How the information from the Product Registry is used
Data from the Product Registry is used by companies and authorities.
How the health authorities use the data
In connection with treating allergic reactions or dealing with accidents, health care professionals from e.g. the Allergy Clinic or the Poison Control Hotline use the information on the individual ingredients in the substances or materials that are registered in the Product Registry.
How the Environmental Protection Agency and the Working Environment Authority use the data from the Product Registry
The Danish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Danish Working Environment Agency (WEA) use extracts from the Product Registry in reports and analyses. This provides input for their prioritization of their efforts and regulation, control, risk assessment and monitoring, as well as preparation of statistics.
Most recently, the EPA has used extracts from the Product Registry to analyse changes in the use of 40 substances on the EPA’s List of Undesirable Substances. Data from the Product Registry can reveal whether a substance is being used more or less as well as in which trades or industries the substances are being used.
The WEA and the EPA also use the information in the Product Registry when checking a substance’s labelling and safety data sheets.

The SPIN Database
The Danish Product Registry also hosts the SPIN database in collaboration with the Product Registries in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Extracts from SPIN can reveal the consumption of substances or materials in the Nordic countries, as well as in which trades or industries substances or materials are being used, their use categories and the extent of exposure. Data is extracted from the Product Registry to SPIN at substance level. Therefore it is not possible to search for data on a specific product on the basis of composition or quantity.
Information from the SPIN database is used by both companies and authorities, e.g. ECHA for analysis purposes.
