Anyone can complain to Arbejdstilsynet, if there is reason to believe than an employer who provides accommodation for their employees is breaking the rules on accommodation.
When an employer offers accommodation to one or more employees, the legislation sets out a number of requirements to ensure that employees are housed in decent conditions. This applies to workplace accommodation, villas, holiday homes and temporary housing solutions such as containers and caravans.
SELF-SERVICE
You may file a complaint regarding employee accommodation regardless as to whether you are accommodated there yourself or are an external party.
Your complaint will remain anonymous. This means that no one will be informed that Arbejdstilsynet, the Danish Working Environment Authority, has received a complaint. This also applies if the company or others request access to the case.
Note that filing a complaint will not always result in Arbejdstilsynet conducting an inspection visit. This will depend on a case-by-case assessment. Arbejdstilsynet will investigate the situation and must be able to establish a breach of the rules during an inspection visit before it can issue an improvement notice.
You can get help completing the complaint form by calling Arbejdstilsynet’s Call Center:
Telephone: +45 70 12 12 88.
