Anyone can submit a complaint to Arbejdstilsynet, if there is suspicion that a company is violating working environment regulations.
You can complain to Arbejdstilsynet, the Danish Working Environment Authority, if you suspect that the working environment regulations are being violated. This applies whether you yourself work at the company or whether it concerns the working environment of others.
You can also complain if you suspect that a foreign company carrying out work in Denmark is violating the working environment regulations.
Arbejdstilsynet will treat your complaint with full confidentiality unless you yourself choose to give digital consent to waive the Arbejdstilsynet’s duty of confidentiality regarding the complaint.
By giving consent, you provide Arbejdstilsynet with better opportunities to respond to the health and safety issue you are complaining about. This is because, during the inspection visit, Arbejdstilsynet can actively use the information in your complaint as part of clarifying and documenting a possible breach of the working environment regulations, when Arbejdstilsynet is permitted to pass on information about the complaint.

When you give consent, you authorise Arbejdstilsynet to pass on information about your complaint to the employer and others. Arbejdstilsynet may disclose that it has received a complaint, who submitted it, the content of the complaint and that the Authority will conduct an inspection visit based on the complaint. This means, among other things, that your employer may become aware of the contents of your complaint.
No, only the complainants themselves have the right to give consent to waive Arbejdstilsynet’s duty of confidentiality regarding a complaint about the working environment. This means that you cannot lift the confidentiality of a complaint on behalf of another person. A complainant who wishes to give consent must fill out the digital complaint and consent form themselves.
