Notify the Register of Foreign Service Providers (RUT) about your work

Foreign companies that temporarily perform work in Denmark must notify RUT about their services. This applies to companies both with and without employees.

If a foreign company is to perform work in Denmark on a temporary basis, the company must notify the Register of Foreign Service Providers (RUTI about itself and its tasks. This also applies in the case of companies which do not have real activities in their home country.

Self-employed persons without employees only need to notify RUT, if they provide services to construction and building companies or within the installation or repair of machinery and equipment.

Notification must be made by no later than the time at which the work is commenced, while any changes must be sent no later than the first working day after they occur.

Notify RUT about service provision - Business in Denmark

Once the foreign company has notified RUT, they will receive a confirmation receipt containing a RUT number. The company should then cite this number whenever they have contact with the Danish authorities.

If the work concerns building and construction, agriculture, forestry, horticulture, gardening or cleaning, then the foreign company must present documentation to their assignor confirming that the company has registered with RUT. This could be a copy of their confirmation receipt from RUT, for example. The company can also enter their assignor’s email address into RUT so that the assignor can automatically receive a copy of this confirmation.
